Black Mesh Trash Can
If you are looking for the simplest hack possible, this is the one for you. Simply purchase two black mesh trash cans from your local Ikea. Next, you will drill a hole using a standard drill bit designed to cut metal. Once the hole is created, you will then cut a circle the same diameter as your lighting kit. String your lighting kit in the hole and viola instant pendant lantern.
White Candle Holders
We found these cute white lanterns at Ikea in the garden section. For this DIY, you will need to remove the handle by removing it out of its existing hole. Next, you will drill a small hole at the bottom of the later using a standard drill bit designed for metal. Cut a circle and then string in the lighting kit.
This beautiful woven basket can be found in the lighting department of your local Ikea. It is available in two sizes. This DIY was completed using the smallest size lantern. You will need to purchase remote control tap lights from Amazon. Simply hang a rope from a ceiling hook, hook your basket to the ceiling hook, attach the tap lights, and you now have a lantern.
